Rheinmetall has received a major order from the Bundeswehr for logistical support in connection with the redeployment of military forces within Germany and their deployment abroad. The framework agreement concluded with the Federal Office for Infrastructure, Environmental Protection and Services of the Bundeswehr (BAIUDBw) has a gross value of up to 260 million euros. The agreement has an initial term of three years and can be extended twice, for one year each, up to a maximum of the end of 2029.
The contract explicitly states that Rheinmetall will provide the specified services both in national defense situations and in accordance with the collective defense clause. The company thus expands its portfolio to include logistical support for the redeployment of forces.
Due to its central location in Europe, Germany is both a transit country and a logistics hub for collective defense. Within NATO and the EU, the country therefore plays a key role in the redeployment of forces.
With this assignment, Rheinmetall Project Solutions GmbH is the first industrial partner to take on the creation and operation of rest areas (Convoy Support Centers or CSC) and assembly areas along convoy routes as part of the Bundeswehr's "Operationsplan Deutschland".
Dr. Deniz Akitürk, CEO of Rheinmetall Project Solutions GmbH, said: “We are pleased to be able to expand our business in the logistical support of the armed forces in this sector as well.”
Rheinmetall's services are not limited to the Bundeswehr, but also extend to allied armed forces (NATO, UN, EU and Partnership for Peace countries). The services offered by the Düsseldorf-based technology company at staging and assembly sites include the provision of space, the provision and management of accommodation, health and catering facilities, as well as the operation of shopping areas, filling stations, energy supply, waste disposal and security services.
