Almost ready the new Boeing helicopter CAS

02/05/14

The AH-6i light attack and reconnaissance helicopter flew in the production configuration for the first time.

During a recent test, the testers flew for nearly 20 minutes at low speeds and altitudes.

In the coming months the tests will concern the flight envelope.

The AH-6i is a single-turbine helicopter based on the proven OH-6A Cayuse. It is an advanced variant of the AH-6M helicopter used by the US Army Special Operations Forces.

The helicopter is intended to provide close air support to land forces and will serve as an attack platform against tanks, armored vehicles and fortifications.
