The US Navy and Boeing have tested new targeting technologies that would greatly improve the safety of crews and the effectiveness of the systems thanks to a rapid sharing of information between different aircraft.

Using an advanced processor, an open architecture, high-bandwidth data connection, and a Windows-based tablet integrated with the mission system, it was shown that EA-18G Growler electronic attack planes would be able to detect targets over long distances and share information faster than ever.

"This advanced targeting capability gives our crews a significant advantage, especially in an environment with increasingly dense threats, where the acquisition of long-range objectives is essential," said Captain David Kindley, program manager for the F / A platforms. -18 and EA-18G of the US Navy.

The use of a tablet integrated with the aircraft mission system was a novelty. The technology would have allowed the crews to more easily access the data and to communicate with the crews of other aircraft.

Existing Growlers will be retrofitted, while the technology will be included as standard on all new aircraft in production.
