MBDA will arm the new Greek Rafales

Lieutenant General Theodoros Lagios, Director General of Defense Investments and Armaments at the Greek Ministry of Defense and Eric Béranger, CEO of MBDA, today signed a contract to supply the armaments of the 18 combat aircraft Flurry intended for the Greek Air Force.

The ceremony was held in Athens in the presence of the French Minister of the Armed Forces, Florence Parly, and the Greek Minister of Defense, Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos.

The weapons of the new aircraft will benefit from strong commonality with those of the Mirage 2000 e Mirages 2000-5 currently in service in the Hellenic Air Force. Like these, i Flurry they will be armed with cruise missiles SCALP, AM39 anti-ship missiles Exocet and multi-mission air-to-air missiles MICA. In addition, MBDA will also supply missiles beyond visual range air-to-air Meteor.

Eric Béranger, CEO of MBDA, said: “The signing of this agreement indicates a new page in our relationship with Greece, which we have had for over half a century. The country was the first real customer of the Exocet missile in 1968, showing great confidence in it and in the companies that preceded us. This estimate has been renewed over the years and is still renewed today. It is our duty to do everything possible to continue to maintain this appreciation ".
