The anti-ship missile Mars ER MBDA has completed the second fire test at the PISQ (Interforces Polygon of Salto di Quirra) in Sardinia.

The launch would confirm the goodness of the project and the overall missile performance. Compared to the previous one, which occurred at the end of 2018, several additional features and functionalities were tested. These included an integrated navigation system, a proximity spool, with weapons controller and advanced configuration actuation system. The missile has incorporated a terminal guide with a new seeker.

The floating target would have been hit with a "near zero" CEP (Circular error probable) after a flight of approximately 100 km.

The missile pushed its envelope to the limit with several important maneuvers, including flying over the sea at low altitude and very high speed.

The Mars ER program would be proceeding positively in order to meet customer needs and the full integration of anti-ship capability on the platform Eurofighter Typhoon.
