Leonardo expands its range of naval defense products with Lionfish®, the new family of small-caliber remotely controlled turrets. Completely designed and developed by Leonardo, the line consists of four models, in which the most advanced technologies currently available on the market are concentrated: the Ultralight, the Inner Reloading and the Top of 12.7 mm caliber, and the model 20 of 20 mm caliber.
Equipped with a common architecture, the Lionfish® family has a compact and light weight structure. The solution is highly versatile and suitable for installation on board any type of boat, both as a primary and secondary defense system. The technologically advanced and easy-to-use man-machine interface allows reduced times for crew training, while the architectural solutions adopted guarantee reliability and simplified maintenance.
The remote control of the turrets, which takes place via a console, and the suite of state-of-the-art electro-optical sensors that they are equipped with allow to identify the objectives with extreme precision, both day and night.
Border control, prohibition of maritime traffic, self-protection, contrast to surface threats including helicopters and drones, are among the operational scenarios in which the system is able to guarantee high effectiveness.
