Leonardo will present two new solutions for Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) at the IACP Technology Conference 2018, scheduled from 21 to 23 May in Providence, Rhode Island (booth # 210).
The first solution, called “E LSAG MTC” (Make, Type, Color recognition), will make it possible to identify the make, type and color of the vehicle and to send this information to the company's operations center (ELSAG Enterprise Operation Center - EOC). Thanks to an advanced recognition software, which operates in near real time mode, investigators will be able to search not only by license plate number, place and time, but also by brand, for seven types of vehicle - sedan, SUV, subcompact, pick up, minivan, van, truck - by main colors - red, blue, green, white and yellow - and other criteria. The solution can recognize the 34 most common vehicle brands in the United States. The software can also identify distinctive signs of the vehicle such as parcel rack, spare wheel, bumper sticker or ride-sharing company decal. Customers will be able to opt for ELSAG MTC in addition to the services already used and, based on specific needs, choose a hardware or cloud solution.
Leonardo will also present a new cloud data storage system, compliant with current legislation. This is the "ELSAG ECSS" (Cloud Storage Solution Store) which, among the various advantages, will decrease the infrastructural costs for end users, typically linked to the maintenance of hardware, allowing to preserve, at the same time, the ownership and control of data. ECSS is an ideal solution for small agencies with limited budgets and IT support.
Through its subsidiary Selex ES Inc., Leonardo has developed a wide range of automatic license plate readers, which are manufactured in Greensboro, NC and Brewster, NY. These are systems used by approximately 4.000 customers, including local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, in over 25 countries.
