Leonardo-Finmeccanica has obtained new orders from an Asian country. In detail, the contracts concern two AgustaWestland AW119Kx helicopters and the supply of an RAT 31 DL aerial surveillance radar system, HALO acoustic systems (Hostile Artillery Location System) and equipment for tactical communications. Deliveries are scheduled within the 2017 for helicopters and starting with the 2017 for radar and other systems.

The order signed for the two helicopters demonstrates the qualities of the AW119Kx helicopter and is evidence of Leonardo's ability to provide advanced training solutions to its customers. The helicopters will be assembled at the Leonardo plant in Philadelphia (USA). Equipped with high safety standards, the AW119Kx has redundancies on several of the main systems to avoid the effects of any faults, while thanks to a cockpit dual-display, allows the flexibility to instruct from both places and the possibility of operations with visual flight (VFR) and instrument flight (IFR). This makes the AW119Kx the best solution among single-engine helicopters for training in challenging and low visibility weather conditions.

The RAT 31 DL radar system is a family system of three-dimensional long-range radars with an effective range of over 470 Km. The RAT 31 DL radar is the most advanced solution for operating in modern air defense systems and is in service in numerous countries belonging to, and not to, NATO such as Italy, Turkey, Poland, Spain, Hungary, Norway, the Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark, Greece, Austria, Thailand and Malaysia. The tactical telecommunication system is deployable in the field, that is transportable and capable of operating from fixed positions, while the HALO system is a new acoustic weapon localization system that adopts advanced data processing techniques specifically developed to determine the origin and position of the fire with extreme accuracy, reliability and speed.
