As part of the agreement between BAE Systems and the UK Ministry of Defense - lasting ten years and whose value could exceed 2,5 billion - to support the Eurofighter fleet Typhoon British (TyTAN - Typhoon Total Availability Enterprise), Leonardo-Finmeccanica and BAE Systems have reached a collaboration agreement to provide an integrated avionics support service for the aircraft.
The agreement, called Joint Avionics Solution (JAS) and whose estimated value is over 600 million, will see Leonardo work with BAE Systems to support avionics equipment of the Typhoon for a period of at least ten years.

The objective of the TyTAN is to review the previously defined European support model. This will lead to greater operating efficiency and a reduction in maintenance costs Typhoon. A significant part of these savings will be reinvested in programs that aim to further develop the aircraft's capabilities. The activities will be carried out both in Italy and in the United Kingdom.
Leonardo's industrial participation in the Eurofighter is equal to approximately 36% of the total value of the program, including the quotas relating to the aerostructure and those relating to avionics and on-board electronics of the aircraft. The company, at the head of the consortia responsible for the supply of the radar, of the passive infrared sensor for the search and tracking of the objectives and the suite of protection of the aircraft, contributes for more than the 60% of the avionics of the Typhoon.

The company has considerable experience in providing logistics support packages for the Typhoon. In particular, Leonardo guarantees the maintenance service for fighters of the Italian Air Force. In this case the activities are carried out directly in the aircraft's operational base through the Avionics Maintenance Center (CMA).
From the 2009 the logistic support guaranteed by the CMA has ensured a high level of availability of the Typhoon and reduced costs. The company is planning to apply this success model more widely and also for the other platforms on which it is involved.
