Leonardo-Finmeccanica: new contracts for civil helicopters in South America

Leonardo-Finmeccanica today announced the recent sale of five corporate transport helicopters to three different customers in South America. The contracts include an AgustaWestland AW169 and two GrandNew (photo) for operators in Argentina and two GrandNew destined for Venezuela. All the machines will be delivered by the end of the year.

The most recently certified AW169 models, e GrandNew they are able to meet the specific requirements of South American customers thanks to the silence and comfort in the cabin, high performance and innovative safety features. The light helicopter GrandNew it remains at the top of its category in passenger transport due to the reduced levels of noise and vibration and the spacious cabin, in which up to six people can seat.

The AW169 intermediate light helicopter presents cutting-edge solutions for rotor, engines, avionics, transmission and fuel system and can carry up to ten passengers.

These orders expand the presence of Leonardo's commercial helicopters in South America where AW250, AW119 and AW109 aircraft are currently in service beyond 139. The company confirms its leadership in the world market of multi-engine helicopters for private transport uses with a share of 50 per cent.
