Leonardo-Finmeccanica at Africa Aerospace & Defense (AAD) 2016

Leonardo-Finmeccanica will exhibit its range of land, naval and aeronautical systems at Africa Aerospace & Defense (AAD) 2016, which will be held from 14 to 18 September in South Africa in Pretoria.

The company is present in South Africa by 20 years with solutions in different sectors for military and civil operations, especially in the helicopter field, in which Leonardo has a fort leadership, with over 50 platforms in service in the country.

Leonardo is present in southern Africa thanks to important contracts and opportunities deriving from different business areas. The company is in fact able to offer advanced solutions suitable to meet the main needs of different countries, supplying fixed and rotary wing aircrafts equipped with integrated sensors and systems for patrolling, surveillance, search and rescue, the medical service of emergency and tactical, as well as coastal and maritime surveillance systems, naval defense systems and computer security solutions.

At Africa Aerospace & Defense 2016, Leonardo will exhibit (stand 3CW26, Hall 3) some products intended to meet the requirements of land, naval and air forces.

In particular, it will show Hero (photo), one Short Range Tactical Rotary Unmanned Air Vehicle (RUAV) ed and the heavy torpedo Black Shark (photo below).

Hero is an RUAV designed to meet civil and military needs. Developed for land and sea operations, it has an autonomy of more than five hours.

Il Black Shark is a wire-guided torpedo at the top in the field of electronics applied to electroacoustics.

It is a weapon multi-target, extremely advanced both from a technological and operational point of view, designed to be used by different launching platforms.
