Leonardo and Elettronica together to support the growth of national sovereign capabilities

Leonardo and Elettronica have signed an agreement that aims to consolidate the long-term strategic cooperation between the two companies in support of the growth of sovereign technologies. The companies, on the basis of the complementarity of their respective distinctive skills, will jointly develop solutions and offers to respond effectively to the growing challenges that lie ahead on the national, European and international markets.

"Thanks to the agreement it will be possible to achieve a significant improvement in the industrial and proactive synergy between the two main players in the Defense & Home Security sector", underlines Alessandro Profumo, CEO of Leonardo, "To provide customers with the best possible solutions. The signing of the partnership is aimed at consolidating and strengthening Leonardo's core business, in line with the guidelines that guide the strategic long-term growth plan Be Tomorrow 2030 ".

It is the demonstration that the wealth of knowledge and qualified professionalism of the national industry, in which an important part of Italian technological sovereignty resides, can and must proceed jointly to face global challenges and support the effort of national strategic autonomy ".

On the basis of the partnership, the naval and avionics areas, both fixed and rotary wing, have been identified among the areas of strategic interest. Within this perimeter, the "golden rules" were agreed for the sharing of market needs, based on the scenarios, in order to jointly address the NATO, European EDF / EDIDP calls and the opportunities of the national defense market for naval systems, helicopters , manned and unmanned aerial platforms.

Leonardo and Elettronica will propose integrated solutions - Electronics systems and Leonardo platforms / systems - already present in the portfolio or their evolutions to the national customer
technologies to better respond to customer needs.

The governance of the agreement is ensured by the establishment of one steering committee permanent in order to ensure the full achievement of the goals of the partnership. The committee is made up of the respective top management and sets itself the task of defining the strategic guidelines for the development of the plans and evolutionary roadmaps of the collaboration.
