The Czech Republic has ordered Rheinmetall to supply an additional 14 Leopard 2A4 tanks. A contract to this effect was signed by Björn Bernhard, CEO of Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH, and Lubor Koudelka, Director General of the Armaments and Procurement Division of the Czech Ministry of Defence.

The contract, financed by the Czech Republic, also includes a large ammunition and logistics package and has a net value of approximately 161 million euros. It provides for the delivery of 14 refurbished Leopard 2A4 tanks by the end of 2026. These mainly come from old Swiss stocks and will be adapted to a Czech-specific configuration within the scope of the project.

The newly signed contract complements two existing exchange agreements, under which the Czech Armed Forces have already received Leopard 2A4s in exchange for the transfer of older equipment to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The recently commissioned ammunition and logistics package is designed to maintain the high level of operational readiness of the fleet, which will comprise a total of 42 Leopard 2A4 tanks and two armoured recovery vehicles.
