Leonardo-Finmeccanica confirms the success of its helicopter range in Japan with the choice, by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police, of two AgustaWestland AW109 light twin-engine helicopters Trekker. The customer will use the two aircraft starting in 2017 and will be the first police operator in Asia for this new model, whose certification is expected at the end of this year.
Through its regional headquarters in Tokyo, inaugurated in 2008, Leonardo-Finmeccanica has seen a significant increase in its presence on the Japanese helicopter market since then. To date, over 150 helicopters of various types have been sold by Leonardo-Finmeccanica in Japan for various commercial and government tasks, of which over 80 are in the AW109 series and more than 40 for public safety missions and belonging to the AW109, AW139 and AW101 models.
