France updates AWACS

22/07/14

Boeing delivered the first of the four upgraded AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System) aircraft to France on July 17. Mid-Life's update - the largest for the French AWACS - should provide the crew with better information and a better picture of the situation during missions.

Changes to the other three French aircraft are expected within the third quarter of the 2016.

Boeing, as prime contractor, provides hardware, software, engineering support and quality control.

Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance, as a subcontractor, is responsible for updating the aircraft's electrical, mechanical and structural systems and mission hardware.
