The Eurofighter consortium today released details of the new contract worth 200 million worth of new improvements for the Eurofighter Typhoon.
In addition to a series of upgrades to the aircraft's mission and maintenance systems, the contract, long envisaged as the "third improvement phase", will concern the implementation of air-ground capabilities for the engagement of fast-moving targets, minimizing collateral damage.
The details were revealed today at a press conference at the Abu Dhabi IDEX Defense Show.
The four-way agreement between the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany and Spain is the basis for the next step, the Phase 4 Capability Enhancement, which is now in the "definition phase".
The delivery of the provisions of the agreement is scheduled for 2017.
Representing Italy in Abu Dhabi was the Secretary General of Defense and National Director of Armaments, General Enzo Stefanini.
