The first CMV-22B Osprey completed the first flight operations. The aircraft is the latest variant of the Boeing convertiplane fleet and joins the MV-22 and CV-22 used by the US Marine Corps and the US Air Force respectively.

The U.S. Navy will use the CMV-22B to replace the C-2A Greyhounds for the transportation of personnel, mail and high priority loads from coastal bases to aircraft carriers.

Bell Boeing designed the variant providing greater flight range as well as a unique ability to carry the main engine components of the F-35.
