Finmeccanica, through its companies AgustaWestland, Selex ES and OTO Melara, participates in DSA 2014 which takes place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 14 to April 17.

The Finmeccanica Group has a consolidated presence in Malaysia with a representative office in Kuala Lumpur, two joint ventures between Selex ES and local companies and two wholly-owned subsidiaries, AgustaWestland Malaysia and Ansaldo STS Malaysia.

AgustaWestland has a strong presence in Malaysia and South-East Asia, with a regional headquarters of AgustaWestland Malaysia Sdn Bhd in Kuala Lumpur operating from the 2008 fundamental for the regional growth of the company. Supplier of military / government helicopters in the area including Super Lynx 300 in Malaysia and Thailand, AW109 and AW109 LUH in Malaysia and the Philippines, AgustaWestland has more than 300 helicopters in order between South and Northeast Asia by government operators and commercial.

In 2012, AgustaWestland has established a Training Center in Kuala Lumpur with AW139 Full Flight Simulator (owned by PWN). In addition, the company is building two new buildings at the Malaysia Helicopter Center at Subang airport. At DSA 2014 the company exhibits a mock-up of the new generation AW149 multi-role military helicopter and presents its complete range of commercial and government models. Among the leading companies in the world in the field of Defense and Security Electronics, Selex ES is able to meet the complex requirements of the Malaysian customer by providing a complete range of solutions for the entire sector. Selex ES has a twenty-year presence in the country where it has developed its activities through partnerships with local companies and the awarding of contracts in both the civil and military sectors. These include several air traffic control systems for Civil Aviation (DCA), radar systems for air defense for the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), naval systems for the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN), operational support and equipment of electronic warfare for the RMAF. With the aim of assisting Malaysia in building a sovereign industrial capacity, DSA Selex EX offers its solutions in the field of air traffic management, baggage handling, defense and security communication systems; the Integrated Airport solution, able to increase efficiency and improve the passenger experience; mobile solutions for coastal surveillance, which can operate autonomously or be integrated within wider systems for managing coasts and ports; mission systems for situational awareness and ISTAR products and sensors to enhance the operational capacity of land vehicles. In Kuala Lumpur, the company also exhibits: the KRONOS naval radar, the most advanced multi-functional radar AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Array) that allows, simultaneously and automatically, to perform surveillance tasks, tracking, threat assessment, fire control against multiple threats; the field-proven JANUS-N system, the high-performance multi-sensor suite for marine surveillance and monitoring; Horizon HD infrared cameras, specifically designed for long-range surveillance and target tracking. At DSA, Selex ES, as a supplier of more than the 60% avionics and main sensors of the Typhoon, supports the promotion activities of the Eurofighter program. OTO Melara has already supplied the Royal Malaysian Navy with 76/62 Super Rapid, Twin 40/70 and rocket launchers installed on the four Laksamana class corvettes, and 76/62 Super Rapid, Single 30mm installed on the six Kedah class OPV boats. The company also supplied the Malaysian Coast Guard with 12,7mm Hitrole N turrets for Fast Interceptor Crafts (FIC) boats and 200 105/14 howitzers to the Army. OTO Melara is pursuing the opportunity to support two Royal Malaysian Navy programs by providing the primary and secondary armament for the program which involves the replacement of the six Fast Attack Craft (FAC) ships and the construction of two Frigates with the option for additional two. In addition, OTO Melara is interested in supplying 12,7 mm turrets to the Malaysian Coast Guard for the FIC program involving 22 new vessels.

At DSA, OTO Melara exhibits The STRALES system, the evolution of the 76/62 naval artillery, which includes a 76/62 naval gun, the DART guided ammunition and a Radio Frequency Guidance System with associated electronics. This system is the most effective response to the emerging demands for medium caliber naval guns, ensuring the highest level of lethality within the new warfare scenarios in both anti-aircraft and surface defense. Additionally, the company exhibits the DART sub-calibrated guided ammunition. By following a radio frequency beam, the DART guided ammunition can change its flight trajectory, adapting it to the target's maneuver. DART ammunition is very effective against maneuvering missiles and also against small and highly maneuvered naval targets, a situation typical of current asymmetrical conflicts in which explosive small boats with limited cost can jeopardize the safety of naval units of considerable size and economic value. The 76 mm Vulcano ammunition will also be on display at DSA. It is an under-calibrated bullet with a range that reaches over 40 km, about double that of a standard 76. The technology of the Volcano has thus been transferred to the smallest caliber, increasing the capabilities of the 76/62 cannon in service with 56 Marines in the world, with the aim of hitting the target with ever greater precision, minimizing the risk of collateral damage. .
