Yesterday in Chruściel, Poland, in the presence of the Director General of NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA) Koen Gijsbers and senior officers from the Polish Ministry of Defense, Finmeccanica, through Selex ES, delivered three air defense radar systems (FADR - Fixed Air Defense Radar) to the Polish air force.

The activation of the radars, called RAT 31 DL, took place successfully. The sensors were installed at three strategic points, two in the north-eastern area and one in the south-eastern region of the country.

Finmeccanica also supplied the same radar model to the Czech Republic, Turkey, Greece and Hungary. Additional projects are also underway in these countries to achieve full integration in the integrated air defense and missile system of the Atlantic Alliance.

The RAT 31 DL is a long-range radar system with anti-ballistic capability. The sensor complies with the most stringent market standards, including full interoperability at NATO level. To date, 59 are the RAT 31 delivered to a total of 13 different countries, of which ten are part of the Atlantic Alliance, for which Finmeccanica represents a reference partner in the field of air defense.

In Poland, Finmeccanica has a long tradition. Through Selex ES, the company has provided the ZSRN automated coastal surveillance system and has been present for a long time with its radio aids to air navigation and weather radar. More recently, under the BRASS program (Broadcast and Ship to Shore), Selex ES has been awarded a contract to equip the Polish Navy with interoperable telecommunications systems at NATO level.
