Finmeccanica: landed the first AW169 destined for the United Kingdom

Finmeccanica, through its Helicopters Division, delivered the first new generation AgustaWestland AW169 helicopter destined for the United Kingdom to Specialist Aviation Services, a leading supplier of helicopter services in the country and which has ordered six helicopters of this model overall. The aircraft will be used by the Kent Surrey Sussex Air Ambulance helicopter rescue service and will be equipped with special medical equipment. 

The General Manager of Specialist Aviation Services, Henk Schaeken, said: "We are proud to introduce the new AW169 in service in the UK to support one of the most important helicopter rescue operators in the country. To this end, we have dedicated great effort in training our engineers and pilots to guarantee, from the outset, the high level of operational and support effectiveness that our customers expect from us ”. 

Adrian Bell, Managing Director of Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance Trust, added: "This is an event of great importance for the development of helicopter rescue services in the UK, especially in the densely polarized area of ​​Kent, Surrey and Sussex, amounting to approximately 3,600 square miles. The advanced features of the AW169 will allow us to further develop and improve the level of service offered to our community and our ability to save lives. Furthermore, the versatility of this model will guarantee the possibility of reconfiguring these services according to future needs ".
