Finmeccanica, through its Helicopter Division, today announced during the Heli-Expo 2016 show (Louisville, Kentucky) the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the US company Era Group Inc., one of the largest helicopter operators in the world and primary operator of AgustaWestland civil helicopters, aimed at collaborating in the development of the AgustaWestland AW609 helicopter rescue configurations.
The agreement reached with one of Finmeccanica's largest customers in the helicopter field would represent a further step forward in the development of the program for the first convertiplane for commercial use in the world, which should combine the typical advantages of the helicopter in terms of versatility and its own of the airplane regarding the performances.
Almost 60 AW609 have been sold to customers all over the world for various applications such as rescue, patrol, offshore transport and passengers.
