AgustaWestland, was awarded a contract for the modernization of eight Lynx Mk21A helicopters of naval aviation of the Brazilian navy.
The contract, worth over 160 million dollars (117 million), includes new engines, modernization of navigation and mission avionics as well as a complete support and training package including a flight simulator. Helicopter modification activities will start in the middle of the 2015, while the first deliveries will take place at the end of the 2017 and will end at the beginning of the 2019. The modernization program will allow the Brazilian naval aviation to significantly improve its capabilities and operational effectiveness thanks to new systems, better performance and greater operating range.
