Fincantieri and Amazon Web Services (AWS), the most complete and widespread cloud services platform in the world, have signed a cooperation agreement to accelerate the country's digital innovation and technological development, essential for its growth.

The two companies will support the implementation of the plan "Digital Italy 2026", part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (Pnrr), which defined specific objectives and priorities for the digitization of the country and the Public Administration. The companies will support the plan by collaborating in the definition of a series of common projects, also through awareness-raising and education activities on new technologies and their productive potential for the growth of the country.

In particular, the two companies recognize the importance of technologies cloud for the purposes of Italy's digital transformation, aiming to enhance its potential in terms of reliability, efficiency, sustainability, safety and scalability. AWS has a long history of investing in the country. In addition, complete control over the location of the data can be further guaranteed to customers through solutions cloud hybrid and customized.

Peterson added: “The AWS cloud infrastructure that we launched in Italy last year enables governance in Italy and makes it even easier for Italian organizations to reinvent and evolve customer and citizen experiences. Together with Fincantieri, our goal is to fuel Italy's digital transformation and its economic growth through the use of the most advanced cloud technologies ".

Giuseppe Bono, CEO of Fincantieri, commented: “We consider this agreement to be of enormous importance. Thanks to the collaboration with AWS, protagonist of the global IT revolution, our Group will increasingly implement new technologies, experimenting with the most innovative solutions and thus decisively favoring its digital transition ". Bono continued: “Furthermore, together we will have the opportunity to make available the wealth of skills, experience and training of both in support of the initiatives promoted by the Government, among which the modernization of the public administration, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence stand out. We will thus be able to actively provide a contribution within the framework of the collaboration of the best productive forces in the country to achieve some of the fundamental objectives in this phase of relaunch ".

Millions of customers, including the fastest growing start-ups, large groups, small and medium-sized businesses and institutions, rely on AWS to enhance their infrastructure, become more agile and reduce costs. AWS first arrived in Italy in 2012 and extended its commitment to the country with the opening of the new AWS Europe Region in Milan in 2020.
