The 29 July a KC-767A of the Air Force successfully completed the first refueling of an F-35A of the US Air Force on theHigh Desert Californian.

The KC-767A is the first foreign aircraft (not operated by the USAF) to undergo certification tests for refueling with the US aircraft.
During the flight the KC-767A and its crew completed 25 contacts between the refueling system tree with a rigid rod and the F-35A, successfully discharging 16.000 pounds (about 7250 kg) of fuel.

Italy has in line a fleet of four KC-767A tankers, an aircraft derived from commercial Boeing 767, at the Pratica di Mare base.
