EXPODEFENSA 2015

In the first days of December, Expodefensa 2015 is taking place in Bogotà, Colombia, a vast international exhibition, where presentations of the latest technological innovations related to the national and international Security and Defense Industry are underway.

During the days of the event, artillery systems, non-lethal weapons, individual protection vehicles, military land vehicles, ships, airplanes and helicopters, UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles), rescue systems were exhibited.

The event brought together 190 exhibitors, 58 of them Colombian and 132 international from 26 countries including the United States, Israel, United Kingdom, Germany, France, China, Italy, Brazil, Czech Republic and Spain. Delegations from Canada, South Korea, India, Mexico, Argentina, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Greece, the Netherlands, Peru, Portugal, Slovenia, Switzerland, Turkey and Uruguay were also added.

In Bogota, visitors received updates on the latest security standards, such as those concerning security measures, advanced techniques and data protection issues.

There are several objectives of the organizers, for example to make the fair an important platform for exchanges and for the initiation of new contacts as well as strengthening the existing ones and giving the Latin American country an important role in the sector and in the various cooperation projects on large scale, determining the development of both the defense and security sector and the domestic industry. Colombian small and medium-sized enterprises have contributed to increasing the country's self-sufficiency and strategic independence.

Our Undersecretary of Defense, the Hon. Gioacchino Alfano, accompanied by the VSGD / VDNA gen. ca Nicolò Falsaperna, participated in the inauguration of EXOPDEFENSA 2015. At the end of the ceremony, he went to the institutional stand jointly created by the Ministry of Defense, AIAD (Federation of Italian Companies for Aerospace, Defense and Security) and ICE (Institute for Foreign Trade), where it was received by the general secretary of AIAD, dr. Carlo Festucci. Later, he visited the stands of Italian companies attending the event, where he met the president of ANAS International, dr. Stefano Granati.

The undersecretary, at the end of the meetings, commented: "These international reviews are unique opportunities to share mutual skills, projects and technological advances in the key sectors of defense and security, especially today after the new global challenge we are facing, following the known and tragic events ".
