Today Avio Aero and Airbus Defense & Space signed the contract for the supply of 120 engines Catalyst 1300-ED1, in addition to the relative maintenance and service, which will equip the Eurodrone.
The first remotely piloted system, born from the European collaboration between the industries in the sector, will be equipped with an engine designed, developed and produced entirely in Europe by Avio Aero, a choice that fully supports the path towards European strategic autonomy.
The signing of the contract follows the announcement of the engine selection of the last March 25 and formalizes the collaboration between the engine engineer and the airframer, making it possible to follow the timetable set by Airbus which sees the production of the first Eurodrone prototype for 2024, destined to enter service by the end of the decade.
