An agreement in the name of sustainability, with benefits for the safety of national electricity supplies. This is the meaning of the agreement signed by Enel X and Leonardo, on the basis of which the use of the energy assets of the Leonardo Aircraft Division plant in Cameri (Novara) will be optimized, feeding, upon request, the energy into the national electricity grid. not absorbed by production activities, for a quantity equivalent to a power of up to 2 MW, equal to the total available to approximately 650 households.

In particular, thanks to the solutions of Demand Response of Enel X for the monitoring and verification of the quantity of energy fed into the grid by the trigeneration plant, the Leonardo site in Cameri, compatibly with its industrial needs, will be able to transfer the unused flows to the national electricity grid, as part of the national dispatching project promoted by the grid operator Terna dedicated to UVAM (Mixed Enabled Virtual Units). The programs of Demand Response they incentivize the adaptation of energy consumption by end users, contributing to the stabilization of the grid when required by the system.

Cameri's is the first example of a broader collaboration program between Leonardo and Enel X in improving the efficiency of the use of energy on a national scale. The project can be further developed with new Energy Management initiatives aimed at the optimal use of the energy used by Leonardo in favor of the safety of the national electricity system.

“We are particularly pleased to be able to support Leonardo, one of the largest companies in the country, on its path towards sustainability. Enel X's innovative Demand Response Services will allow the group to maximize the benefits of operating the Cameri trigeneration plant, while providing fundamental support for the safety of the electricity grid ", said Francesco Venturini, CEO of Enel X.

"The contribution of a technologically advanced asset such as the production plant in Cameri to the national electricity grid is one of the concrete examples with which Leonardo actively supports the country system", said Lucio Valerio Cioffi, Leonardo's General Manager. "Joining the Demand Response project further enriches our Energy Management initiatives which represent one of the levers of Leonardo's sustainability path, in line with the company's energy efficiency objectives".

The agreement benefited from the exemption from the application of the rules on transactions between related parties, since it is a transaction of a small amount pursuant to this discipline.
