Delivery of the first C-27J Spartan to the Peruvian Air Force

Institutional presence at the highest levels for the official delivery ceremony by Finmeccanica-Alenia Aermacchi of the first C-27J Spartan tactical transport aircraft ordered by the Peruvian Air Force.

The demonstration, held in Lima at the Las Palmas base, was attended by the Italian Defense Minister, Roberta Pinotti, the Peruvian Minister of Defense, Pedro Cateriano Bellido, the commander of the Peruvian Air Force, General Dante Arévalo Abate, and the ambassador Italian in Lima, Mauro Marsili.

The participation of Minister Pinotti in the delivery ceremony of the aircraft testifies to the growing importance of Alenia Aermacchi in Latin America, an area where the Finmeccanica company is expanding its business, in addition to Peru, also in Chile and Mexico.

The delivery of the tactical transport aircraft is part of an agreement between Alenia Aermacchi and the Peruvian Air Force consisting of two contracts: the first, signed in December 2013, provided for the supply of two C-27Js; the second, signed in December 2014, saw the acquisition of two additional Alenia Aermacchi C-27J military transport aircraft by the Air Force of Peru.

The value of the two contracts, for a total of four firm confirmed orders, amounts to approximately 240 million US dollars and today's delivery concerns the first of two aircraft ordered under the 2013 contract. Deliveries of the other three aircraft will end in 2017. .

The C-27Js that will be managed by Grupo Aéreo Nº 8 based in Callao, on the central coast of the country, will be engaged as a strategic asset in passenger and cargo transport, humanitarian, anti-fire, search and rescue and national security missions.

In addition to Peru, the C-27J Spartan has already been ordered by the air forces of the United States, Australia, Italy, Mexico, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia, Lithuania, Greece and Morocco, among others, for a total of 80 units.
