Finmeccanica-Telespazio installed and tested the new satellite network of the Guardia di Finanza on board 18 naval units of the Corps offshore fleet.
The contract stipulated with the Guardia di Finanza, signed following the award of a European tender procedure, allows the use, on board of the largest naval units, of numerous services to support investigative and police activities at sea.
The activity, in fact, involved the installation of a double satellite antenna for broadband communications and integrates with the previous construction of the satellite network on board the two new multi-role patrol boats of the Guardia di Finanza. Thanks to this new configuration, the naval units of the Corps will have a broadband channel available that will allow the units involved to use the tactical and strategic services, up to now available in HF, VHF or narrowband satellite phone mode.
The main services available on board include access to the Intranet and Internet, the possibility of videoconferencing and VoIP telephony, as well as the use of the functions of the C4i Command and Control System in use by the Air-Naval Section, including sending to the Lounge. Operational of respective competence of images and videos in real time.
