The United States Navy has finalized a production contract from 2,4 million dollars with Boeing for the next 19 aircraft P-8A Poseidon. The contract includes 10 airplanes in addition to the current P-8A of the US Navy fleet, all 5 aircraft currently under contract with Norway and the remaining 4 aircraft for the existing contract with the United Kingdom, for a total of nine aircraft purchased from the United Kingdom.

United Kingdom and Norway are buying Boeing aircraft through the Foreign Military Sales process and will receive a variant designed and built for the US Navy, called P-8A Poseidon. The United Kingdom will receive the first aircraft in the 2019 and Norway starting from the 2021.

The P-8 is a long-range and multi-mission maritime patrol capable of performing a wide range of maritime and coastal operations. With over 180.000 flight hours to date, the P-8 variants, the P-8A Poseidon and the P-8I, patrol the world with anti-submarine, anti-surface warfare, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities; humanitarian search and rescue missions.
