Boeing yesterday delivered the first CH-47F Chinook in multiyear II configuration to the United States Army a month ahead of schedule. The handover was celebrated with a ceremony at the Ridley Township manufacturing facility in Pennsylvania.
Boeing was awarded the $ 4 billion contract in June 2013 for 155 CH-47Fs and options for another 60 aircraft. The deliveries under the contract will continue until 2019.
Among the international customers that will receive this advanced configuration are Australia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
The multiyear II configuration incorporates a number of enhancements such as the new Cargo-On-Off-Loading system which allows for quick floor reconfiguration for cargo missions and the Cargo Platform Health Environment system which provides real-time monitoring of the platform to reduce maintenance operations and the overall cost of the product life cycle.
