Boeing has signed an agreement for the acquisition of Liquid Robotics, market leader in autonomous maritime systems and developer of the ocean robot Wave glider.

"With Liquid Robotics' innovative technology and Boeing's intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance solutions, we are helping our customers to face maritime challenges with smarter platforms, safer missions and more efficient operations.", said Leanne Caret, president and CEO of Boeing Defense.

In September, 2014, Boeing and Liquid Robotics entered into a partnership agreement with consequent wide integration on the Sensor Hosting Autonomous Remote Craft (SHARC®), a version of the Wave glider. The SHARC (photo), integrated with advanced Boeing sensors, enables intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities ranging from satellites to aircraft, with or without a crew, to submarine vehicles.

Liquid Robotics has designed and built Wave Glider, the first autonomous solar-powered ocean robot since its foundation in the 2007. The company, which has approximately 100 employees in California and Hawaii, will become a Boeing subsidiary.
