(To OTO Melara)
13/11/15

Finmeccanica-OTO Melara has signed a memorandum of understanding for carrying out maintenance operations on the 76 / 62 Super Rapids (SR) guns installed on board the French Navy's Class Horizon ships. The agreement was signed today by the amm. sq. Donato Marzano, logistic commander of the Italian Navy, from the engineer. Roberto Cortesi, managing director of OTO Melara and of the am. François Pintart, director of the logistic services center of the French Navy.

The protocol, signed in the framework of the Horizon Program Steering Committee, in addition to consolidating and directing the main Italian-French initiatives for in-service support of class ships Horizon, represents a first step towards a broader agreement that could include 76 / 62 systems installed on board the French FREMM. It is also an important signal in view of future collaborations between the European armed forces as well as generating significant industrial effects for the La Spezia area.

The agreement follows the contract recently signed by the Marine Nationale Française with OTO Melara for the general review of the 76 / 62 SR systems embarked on the units Chevalier Paul e Forbin. The contract also provides for the calibration of the plants, on the ground and on board, by the "Center for Naval Support and Experimentation" (CSSN) of La Spezia.
