Sometimes a dream can come true. There is a world that goes on with double-digit growth and a country that trudges victim of the lies that for almost a century has been told and self-convinced. The business of the defense industry has always been seen as a taboo in Italy. For too many decades we have been losing positions for the simple, masochistic unwillingness to compete.
For over a decade, however, there are those who do not give up and show that hoping to be citizens of a country on the planet Earth, the real one in which there are healthy, necessary and legal markets and businesses is just right and should be done with pride, not in silence or in the shade.
We met Cristiana Pagni, creator of the event and a woman of character, to understand the importance of an event desired and pursued with courage.
Dott.ssa Pagni, what is Seafuture?
"Blue Gold, Liquid Continent, Blue growth, enlarged Mediterranean: more and more recurring definitions highlight how since the end of the Nineties the awareness has grown of how the heart of the economy and the welfare of our country depend on the sea.
Seafuture represents an important opportunity for all companies, small and medium-sized, that operate in the maritime sector, as well as being known internationally, to create competitive clusters.
Cooperation between the scientific world, research, businesses, armed forces, and political institutions must be aimed at consolidating the network of technical-scientific-industrial skills that make Made in Italy excellent.
Precisely for this reason I am particularly grateful to the Navy who collaborates with the organization and hosts us inside the Naval Base, for its important role that, in time of peace, is expressed in the activity of defense of the free use of the sea, of trade and in the protection of communication lines and maritime transport. And I would like to mention how a strong Navy allows our country to negotiate peace in the most important international working tables."
For now, are you satisfied with the premises of the 2018 edition?
"Organizing Seafuture means creating an opportunity to nurture these synergies and strengthen the relationships between all the players in the field and also spread these concepts more widely, especially to the young people who are our future forces.
We are at the sixth edition, twelve years of teamwork and constant growth of the event: just read the issues to 360 ° on the sea, the number and types of participants to understand that the present and the future of our development are these days here in La Spezia to witness the central role of our nation. "
Someone will be able to escape but today a revolutionary appointment is inaugurated. As a magazine that has been struggling for years to make up for the national gap in popular culture on the subject of Defense, we can not but be pleased with the growth in importance and international dimension of the event.
We hope that the policy did not snobbi - as in the past - the appointment. Will the "innovative" character finally be common today to Italian organizers and institutions?
