Trump hostage of anti-virus lobbies. That's who the US attack on Syria is all about

The first to cheer for the American missile attack on the Syrian air base of Al Sharyat were in order: ISIS, the Islamist militiamen of the Idlib front, Hillary Clinton, Erdogan's Turkey, Israel and Saudi Arabia. If the effects of an action show the intentions that generated it, this would be enough to make a picture.

The stricken base is one of the principal from which the missions that strike the Islamic State on the south front depart, that is the arc of territory comprised between Palmira and Deir Ezzor. From the military point of view, having struck this important infrastructure means having given breath to the cut-throats of the Caliphate, now in retreat on all fronts.

From a political point of view the game is more subtle.

From the inauguration of Trump until the night of April 7, the geopolitical balance that was taking shape with the lights out in Syria was complex but clear: Assad and the Russians would win the war against the rebels and ISIS; the USA, aware of the mistakes of the Obama era, would have participated in the triumph by conquering Raqqa through the Syrian Democratic Forces; Turkey, for years guilty of every wickedness, would have been left the territory buffer close to the border, to dispose of the refugees and control the Kurds. The Kurdish question and the internal balance in Syria would be discussed later.

To some this scenario has not gone down.

Saudi Arabia has seen its dream of establishing a Sunni government in a historically hostile country fade away. Israel, despite Moscow's guarantees, has seen its political and military weight strengthened Hezbollah and its predecessor Iran. In this regard, it must be considered that for the Jewish state the important thing is not so much to eliminate the enemies, but to make them weak: the real danger for Tel Aviv, therefore, is not the Assad dynasty that the Israelis have tolerated for 40 years old, but Tehran. The picture that was taking shape for the Syria of the future did not give Netanyahu sufficient guarantees, especially in light of the nebulous American line of the first months of 2017. Israel needed a strong signal against Iran, which with Obama had never arrived, despite Barak's help to Sunni rebel militiamen.

Turkey itself, in the hands of gambler Erdogan, on balance in Syria had to give up the operation Shield of the Euphrates accepting the growth of Kurdish militias, decisive on the anti-ISIS front. Erdogan, seeing the risk of remaining with the match in his hand, started to raise the tone against Assad, after having attenuated them in agreement with Russia for almost a year. Turkey's aim is to continue to have a say in the northern Islamists, so as to deal with the Syrian Kurdish problem, up to the non-existent 2011.

The American attack on Syria seems paradoxical but in reality it is going to affect both American and geopolitical internal balances.

The consequences in Syria will be seen in the coming days, also by virtue of Putin's reaction, whose patience with Trump's wavering attitudes will not be infinite. Just as we write, Moscow announces the end of collaboration with the US for security in the Syrian skies.

It is very likely that American missiles are demonstrative. They will not have an excessive military impact, but a very clear political meaning, especially for internal politics.

The unilateral act of Trump, decided hot and without any preventive passage (neither to the UN nor to the allies), rather than bring us back to the Bush era, summarizes the need to show autonomy from Moscow and decision-making power. Trump, cornered by the charges of Russiagate, he thought the only way not to be weak was to hit.

On the US home front, the benefits of the raid are many. In a single blow (actually 59, how many missiles are launched ...) Trump silences those who want him subjected to Putin and flees the ghosts of those who feared a new Monroe doctrine, with US withdrawal from the main international teams.

In all of this Clinton rejoices. Not content with having caused the Syrian civil war by arming the jihadist militias fighting Assad, she wanted to sink the blow and take revenge on those who humiliated her in front of the whole world. Since December, the former US Secretary of State has been proselytizing in search of allies on the anti-Assad front. For the former first lady it is an obsession: collaboration with Russia in Syria (and elsewhere) must not be done. There is only one way: Cold War, Cold War, Cold War!

The first signs that the November elections had won Trump but the real political power in foreign policy is the Pentagon and the antirusse lobbies that control it, had existed since the early days of the New York tycoon settlement in the White House. The Russiagate he started with the speed of light and one by one, all the "alternative" collaborators in the Atlanticist politics have fallen: above all Michael Flynn and Stephen Bannon, both removed from their national security duties.

Does America remain in the hands of the anti-Russians who do not want change?

We can say that for the moment Trump has fallen into the trap of those who do not want Putin's friend. Clinton and Republican hawks like McCain in this area find themselves allies and winners.

Basically, in the USA, what is happening in Europe is taking shape in the political sphere: traditionally hostile ideological fronts (liberal and conservative to be clear) are allying themselves against those who resist globalization and flaunt sovereign identities.

Trump was born as an alternative, but every minute that passes he shows himself more and more with his back to the wall and unable to impose a third way.

All those who exulted for his victory (including the Russians) today had a start.

It remains to be seen how the radical and pacifist DEM world will react, hostile by nature to Trump but suddenly shaken by an attack that Hillary Clinton wanted so much. Chalks or colored profiles in this case count for little; after the US attack on Syria, there is only one objective fact: the chemical weapons trap was successful and today Islamic terrorists enjoy.
