War reports continue to arrive from Yemen. The media manager of the Yemeni Republican Guard, loyal to President Saleh's Shiite front, would have confirmed the attack by the militiamen Houthi to a convoy of mechanized Saudi troops that took place on Friday October 14 at Albuqa in the Al Jawf governorate, in northwestern Yemen.

40 Saudi soldiers would have been killed, 3 tanks destroyed (without specifying whether it is M60 or Abrams Books), 7 armored vehicles and an unknown number of other vehicles.

Riyadh's forces were passing on road 556, a desert artery that crosses the border post between Yemen and Arabia 10 km from the Saudi city of Khbash, when they were surprised by explosive devices placed on the side of the roadway by rebels Houthi. The attack would then continue with automatic weapons before the arrival of Saudi helicopters to the rescue.

The Al Jawf governorate is one of the nerve centers of the Yemeni war. On the border between the sand of the Arabian Desert and the western mountains leading to the Red Sea, it is one of the transit points of land supplies of the Sunni Coalition and at the same time the beginning of the area where the militiamen loyal to Saleh they are stronger. Characterized by a sandy and rocky territory, particularly hostile and perfect for ambushes, it has been at the center of violent clashes and heavy Saudi aerial bombardments for almost two years.

The assault on the 14 October convoy is one of the bloodiest attacks carried out by Shiite militias against the Saudi-led coalition since the conflict began.
