International news agencies confirm that Andrey Karlov, ambassador of the Russian Federation in Turkey was killed during an attack this afternoon in Ankara, the country's capital.
The Russian ambassador was giving a speech during a photo exhibition when he was hit in the head by gunshots fired by an unidentified man who shouted "revenge for Aleppo".
Urgently transported to Guven hospital in central Ankara, Karlov died shortly after from his injuries - news confirmed by the spokesman of the Russian foreign minister, Maria Zakharova.
The bomber, who was to hit other 3 people, was eliminated by the Turkish special forces that immediately broke into the tunnel.
