US war simulation: Strategic bombers B-1 Lancer hook up on Korean Peninsula escorted by F-35

A second joint exercise with Kōkū Jieitai (JASDF) and ROK Air Force yesterday saw a mixed formation of USAF and USMC aircraft engaged in a simulated attack on the Korean peninsula, Pacific Command officials reported. response to yet another launch of an intermediate-range ballistic missile by Pyonyang. The missile, IRBM to be identified in a KN-17, flew over Japan on September 15 (v.articolo).

A pair of strategic B-1B bombers Lancer taken off from Andersen's air base in Guam; escorted by four hunters of 5Â generation F-35B Lightning II taken off by Iwakuni Air Station Marine Corps in Japan; met four F-15K hunters Slam Eagle South Korean and four Japanese multipurpose F-2 fighters (aircraft developed on the basis of F-16) to fly over the Korean peninsula and hit the Pilsung polygon. The B-1B Lancers used conventional mk.84 - general purpose bombing - from 2,000 pounds (beyond 900kg).

The F-35B, Japanese B-1B and F-2 bombers flew along the waters off Kyushu, Japan, then joined the ROK formation and reached the goal.

The demonstration of strength is further signaled by the US that the Pacific command keeps its capacity to respond to any kind of threat in Indo-Asia-Pacific theater.
