Communist China Defense Ministry spokesman Colonel Ren Guoqiang said today that the country strongly opposes the sale of arms to Taiwan from any source and urges France to immediately cancel its supply programs.
Some reporters had asked for comments on news of a French government plan to sell arms to Taiwan.
There is only one China in the world and Taiwan is an integral part of China.
Colonel Ren invited the French side to promptly back off.
"The Chinese military have firm will, full self-confidence and adequate capacity to counteract the interference of foreign forces to make Taiwan independent, safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity and protect regional peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait".
