We have been saying that for months in Aleppo the mother of all battles. For Assad's forces, the reconquest of Syria's second city has always appeared as a turning point, especially from a psychological point of view. The metropolis, raped by 4 years of occupation of rebel militias with strong Islamist penetration, is the historical alter ego of the capital Damascus and the industrial and cultural reference of the northern part of the country. Recovering it would have coincided with a substantial change in the military and political framework of the war in Syria. The topical moment seems to have arrived with the operation Dawn of Victory.

The news that from now on come from the front confirms that the collapse of jihadist militias still active in the city is imminent.

Overnight the Syrian army recaptured the district of Sakhour, immediately after the capture of Haydarya with which the north of Aleppo can now be considered officially free from the rebel presence. The retreat of Fatah Halab (the component of the fundamentalist cartel Jaysh al Fatah,Conquest Army, operating in the Aleppo metropolitan area) would be general.

According to local sources, reported also by Western agencies, hundreds of Islamist rebels are surrendering to the Kurds of the People's Defense Units (YPG) in the area of Sheikh Maqsoud, to avoid capture and the inevitable showdown with regular forces Syrian.

Thousands of citizens, de facto prisoners of fundamentalists for years, would now be in areas under full government control.

The situation is fluid and subject to continuous updates.
