Despite the growing turmoil in the Middle East, Russia is ready to show that it is capable of adequately supporting an expeditionary war in Syria. After four years of war, the Syrian government is resisting despite the huge wake of deaths (we are close to the threshold of 300.000) and destruction. On 21 October the Syrian authorities opened a new corridor for rebels and civilians who want to leave the besieged eastern neighborhoods of Aleppo, but the UN confirmed that the scheduled medical evacuations have not started as planned due to the lack of security guarantees. from the warring parties.

NATO ships made up of the navies of Great Britain, Norway and the Netherlands are sailing in international waters, to monitor the Russian fleet with orders to avoid any kind of engagement.
The frigate HMS Richmond is following the Russian aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov with its naval group, the nuclear cruiser Peter the Great, two anti-submarine destroyers Severomorsk e Kulakov  and by four support and escort vessels as well as a submarine, in the Norwegian sea area north of Great Britain between Iceland and Norway, while the destroyer Type 45 HMS Duncan he left Portsmouth en route south to the North Sea.

Let us remember that the aircraft carrier  Kuznetsov it is equipped with 15 Su-33 and MIG-29K warplanes and about 12 Ka-52K, Ka-27 and as many helicopters. The task force is the largest naval force since the end of the Cold War.

La Royal Navy has deployed shadow ships to monitor the movements of the Russian fleet with the support of RAF. The novelty is that Russia has also assumed an international role at sea with a large naval deployment that reflects the strengthening of the Navy, which has returned with a massive presence in terms of armament and tonnage also in the Mediterranean.

This signal is also supported by the confirmatory statements made by the prestigious institute of maritime studies, the Royal United Services Institute of London that sees in the Russian maneuvers a serious danger.
In fact, the Russian Navy is organizing to increase the volume of fire in Syria in support of the massive air operation that has flanked the Syrian army for over a year, while Assad's troops tighten for the final offensive on Aleppo.

British Prime Minister Theresa May pushes politically to involve other European countries in a firm stance against Russia and its growing role in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, between Dardanelles and the Sea of Marmara, the units of the VI increasea American fleet, which watches over the entire Mediterranean basin and the countries bordering it. In the Mediterranean, in addition to the Standing Born Maritime Group and to the VIa Fleet, there are also French naval units crossing not far from war units of the Chinese Navy and the 24a Iranian fleet, recently entered the chessboard.

Despite constant warnings against Russia's military actions in Syria, EU representatives have failed to find an agreement to send a clear and unambiguous signal or apply punitive sanctions. In the Mediterranean, however, winds of war are whistling and the tension of all the actors remains high pending the next developments.
