Write a book about the Great War today, it is not an easy choice: everything that could be written and not written was done [...]

With these words the author makes his debut in his third literary effort, however, if one takes into account the wide editorial volume, stimulated by the centenary of the Great War, one cannot not agree with the incipit.

The book by dr. However, Costantino Filidoro has something more, he manages to go beyond the academic aspect of the topics dealt with, captures attention and catalyzes the reflections, moving easily within known themes without ever falling into the oblivion of obviousness.

The debut chapter offers the reader an almost police examination of the facts that led to the Sarajevo 1914 bombing and closes with a paragraph capable of projecting the reader into the intriguing and never too explored world of the ucronie.

The second chapter deals with the role of Italy in the 1 World Conflict through a didactic account of the involvement of Rome in the most distant operational theaters from Italy, from Murmania to deep Asia, passing through France and Palestine, operating areas certainly not very influential on "unredeemed" front operations, but certainly capable of opening up Italy to the world of great international politics.

The third chapter is dedicated to the American Red Cross and its role in the field of humanitarian relief for fighters and not in the peninsular territory, this theme is treated in a rigorous manner, through consultation of official documents and without ever abandoning the common thread which binds the entire text, the desire for analysis and at the same time a story.

The text is accompanied by vintage photographs taken from a family archive of the author, which makes the text even more personal, bringing the reader to a real involvement.

The pages flow quickly and the concepts, elaborated with simplicity and academic rigor, are fixed in the mind effectively, GREAT WAR the forgotten truths, a book to read!
