Cocer AM: Closing polygons? What future for workers?

02/03/16

The Cocer of the Aeronautics expresses strong concern regarding the recent statements of the president of the "Parliamentary Commission of inquiry into the effects of the use of depleted uranium" on. Gian Piero Scanu on the possible content of the first report which he will present to Parliament and the Government in June, for "the cancellation of Capo Teulada, Capo Frasca and reconverting that of Salto di Quirra", all in Sardinia.

Without wishing to enter into any scientific and environmental evidence that the president certainly has and of which he will report to Parliament, Cocer is obliged to highlight how the scenario outlined by the Hon. Scanu does not reassure or reassure the military and civilian personnel who work there.

In fact, such personnel have the right to ask for certainty about their destiny and that of their families, both in terms of employment prospects in Sardinia and in realizing the life projects that every citizen, with the stars or not, has the right to imagine .

The Cocer as a legitimate representative of the requests of the staff therefore asks both the Commission of Inquiry and the Minister of Defense to clarify the project for Sardinian military and civilian workers and above all we ask that these projects be shared with those who then will have to suffer the consequences.

With this in mind, we would also like the Commission to immediately disclose any findings if they affect the health of the staff and the healthiness of the working environment which, we recall, is the primary task of the Commission itself.
