Friday, May 9, 21.00:XNUMX p.m. "Putin celebrates Victory Day (of Xi Jinping...)"

07/05/25

On Friday, May 9, Moscow will host the traditional military parade to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazism. But this year, more than ever, the celebration takes on the characteristics of a geopolitical surrender: Putin's Russia parades under the smug gaze of Xi Jinping, the true winner of an increasingly unbalanced alliance.

With the war in Ukraine eroding the Russian economy and isolating Moscow from the West, China now appears as the Kremlin’s only credible sponsor. The announced presence of Xi and other leaders of the Global South transforms Red Square into a catwalk of the “alternative order” to the Western liberal system.

But there is no shortage of shadows: Ukrainian drone strikes on Moscow, a ceasefire rejected by Kiev, and growing unrest in Eastern Europe. The parade will not only be a tribute to the past, but a menacing message to the present.

To discuss it live, Friday 9th May at 21pm, will be the general Giuseppe Morabito, member of the board of directors of the NATO Defence College Foundation. With him we will analyze the profound meaning of this “Victory Day” and the risks of a Russia increasingly tied to Beijing.

Do not miss it!
