Originally designed as the aerial equivalent of the BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicle, upon completion of its development the thousand Mi-24 it had evolved to become a unique vehicle in the world, combining the characteristics of a transport helicopter and an assault helicopter capable of carrying out a wide spectrum of missions.
