The 2024 NATO Washington Summit marked a pivotal moment for the Alliance, marking its 75th anniversary. During the summit, leaders discussed and adopted a number of key initiatives to strengthen collective defense and deterrence, support Ukraine and improve global relations.
One of the main topics was the continued support for Ukraine: Commitment to provide additional military and economic aid to address Russian aggression. It was agreed to strengthen transatlantic cooperation in the industrial defense sector, with the aim of increasing armaments production and improving NATO's collective defense capabilities.
Another important issue was the increase in defense spending by members. This year, 23 out of 32 countries will spend at least 2% of their GDP on defense, with the aim of increasing this value in the coming years.
The summit also saw the participation of global partner countries such as Australia, Japan, New Zealand e South Korea, underlining the importance of closer cooperation with these nations, especially in areas such as cybersecurity and new technologies.
The creation of a new Aegis Ashore base in Poland to improve defenses against ballistic missiles was also announced.
Tonight at 21.00pm, in a new episode of WW3, together with the general Giuseppe Morabito, we will comment on the results of the summit and evaluate the critical issues (including a huge, "pargallistically" underestimated...).
See you there!
