"Do you want to stop the wave of refugees? Let's bomb the Islamic State more"

Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said the 40 percent of asylum seekers in Europe are fleeing Syria.
An increase in the bombing of the Caliphate could help slow the flow of migrants.

"Much more can be done in terms of supporting air strikes against Daesh (Islamic State) by preventing it from claiming more territory from sovereign governments."

The Australian federal government is examining the US request for increased operations against IS in Iraq and Syria.

"The humanitarian crisis is unprecedented" - added the minister - "We will concentrate on the possibility of resolving the situation at the root. This will include a military and political solution both in Syria and in Iraq".

Holy words those of the Australian minister. Too bad that the sudden exodus of refugees through Turkey looks more like an instrument of pressure than a spontaneous exodus. In recent years the countries bordering Syria have hosted - not without social frictions and obvious logistical difficulties - almost 4 million Syrians. Why just now this peak in migration and not 6 months or 3 years ago?

A further aspect of the intervention of the Australian minister is that while - rightly - the lady speaks of support to "sovereign governments", a good part of the coalition attacks (?) The ISIS with the only interested look at the fall or failure of the States that should to protect.

In this chaos only a single European action, clear e decided it will be able to resolve the tragedy of the wars behind millions of desperate people fleeing. To do this, however, would require something that does not even exist in appearance: a political union of Europe.

Italy, in the meantime, continues to demonstrate that it does not have a foreign policy, it is content to suffer the consequences of that of others.
