Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, answering a question (certainly unexpected…) from a journalist on the sidelines of the United Cultures Forum in St. Petersburg yesterday, warned about Ukraine's use of Western-made long-range precision weapons:
“The fact is that – I said, and any expert, both in our country and in the West, will confirm this – the Ukrainian army is not capable of using cutting-edge high-precision and long-range systems supplied by the West. They cannot do it. These weapons are impossible to use without intelligence data from satellites that Ukraine does not have. This can be done only using satellites of the European Union or satellites of the United States, in general, NATO satellites. This is the first point.
The second point, perhaps the most important, the key point, is that only NATO military personnel can assign flight missions to these missile systems. The Ukrainian military cannot do that.
Therefore, it is not a question of whether or not to allow the Ukrainian regime to strike Russia with these weapons. It is a question of whether NATO countries will be directly involved in the military conflict or not.
If this decision is made, it will mean nothing less than direct involvement: it will mean that NATO countries, the United States and European countries will be parties to the war in Ukraine. This will mean their direct involvement in the conflict and will clearly change the very essence, the very nature of the conflict dramatically.
This will mean that NATO countries, the United States and European countries, will be at war with Russia. And if this is the case, then, keeping in mind the change in the essence of the conflict, we will make appropriate decisions in response to the threats that will be posed to us.”
The second question (which was not asked)
In 2014 Russia has annexe Crimea and, in 2022, after “Special Operation” (and referendums considered illegal and invalid by most countries and the United Nations) proclaimed theannexation of four other Ukrainian regions: Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia.
If such areas are already part of the Russian Federation e are - for years - subject to attacks with precision weapons long range Western-made, if targeting at all levels - tactical and strategic - happens almost surely from the beginning of the conflict with military aid Western, Why doesn't Russia declare war on NATO?
Perhaps because it is finally ready to negotiate for territories that not even its president “dialectically” recognizes as national territory?
