Libya: rebellion on social networks against Italians' friends. Diplomatic gaffe?

October 26 is a symbolic date for Libya, a day of national mourning: it is celebrated "the beginning of deportations of the 1911". On that day began the transfer to the Tremiti Islands (a third will die of stents and illnesses) of hundreds of Libyans (men, women and children!) Who would not bend to the Italian presence in the country.

Libya, we remind you of the Italians who do not believe in the recovery that the official economic figures claim, is (it was "was") a non-indifferent partner for the national economy. Allied that - as we have seen on several occasions (v.articolo) - has an affection for us that I would call "embarrassing". Not deserved but real.

What seems to have happened a few days ago? To read news and comments that are circulating on Social in Libya - we repeat "it would seem" - that the Italian Ambassador to Tripoli, instead of celebrating the anniversary, maybe playing a tresette match accompanied by a kneeling with his friends, gave a a real party (see photo) at your residence.

I understand the disbelief of those who are reading these lines to the sole thought that an Italian with such assignment may be responsible for such a gaffe. I share it and I agree with her perplexity.

Often newspapers and local channels are subsidized (even if not officially) by our allied governments which - for some reason - love to debase our image and undermine the positive feelings of Libyans towards Italians.

It is true that, false or not, in Libya comments to the photo published on the evening of recurrence are rabid ("to be extinct" is one of the terms used) and directed against the fellow citizens defined as "collaborators".

Two sets of voices can sum up the reaction to the incident: the nostalgic ones in favor of Gaddafi and those who, in the end, also feel the late fall of a collaborator.

Finally, some isolated views seem to defend the ambassador: it would be a "manipulation", as the party would not hold 26 a few days ago to celebrate Gaddafi's death ...

Personally, I sincerely hope that the foreign ministry will provide us with a third option. Being the son of Gaddafi, Saif al-Islam, one of the next inevitable protagonists of politics in Libya, the second fool would be worse than the first!
