Lo US Cyber Command announced an important step in strengthening cyber cooperation with Sweden. From 24 to 25 February, a delegation from Swedish Cyber Command visited the 16th Air Force (Air Forces Cyber) at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. The goal: to increase interoperability and align cyber strategies between the two countries.
Head of the delegation, General Johan Pekkari, stressed that cooperation with the US has been instrumental in developing Sweden's cyber capabilities. US General Thomas Hensley highlighted the importance of building a “combined cyber force” to address common threats.
Sweden, which recently joined NATO, has already participated in joint exercises with allies, including Cyber Coalition, the Alliance's main cyber exercise. The Swedish Cyber Command, formally operational since 2024 but active since 2004, aims to ensure freedom of action in the cyber domain with capabilities defensive and offensive.
The visit included meetings with several U.S. operational units and laid the foundation for long-term strategic collaboration, especially in critical areas such as the Arctic region.
